I see your point, it would probably involve a quarter mile worth of extra coding to specify which wall is effected by which type of siege unit. What caught my attention was the Ballista description(where it singles out the gate). Maybe you can send ballistas in to help loot a city vs. conquering it? Blast through the gate, get in, loot, leave. Scrolling through the threads, I see the walls and siege units as a common concern for other players(even saw a suggestion that mangonels could hurl diseased corpses) and I think there's an opportunity there. Just spit-balling, though.

Siege units: I just think about that logically. I'm not sure how long it would actually take 8 guys pushing a log to knock down a fortified stone wall, but I'm fairly certain that the archers inside that wall would kill them long before it ever was accomplished. So, even sending 40 rams at a fortified wall would be like cramming the square peg in the round hole. You have 3 different styles of siege units, one for multiple close range blunt strikes, one that fires enormous arrows meant for ripping apart light structures(made of wood or meat), and two different units meant for hurling objects great distances. I think it's a disservice to their individual characteristics to simply lump them all together with "They just do more damage and have more hp as they get more expensive".

My thought on allied support was: if there is an area you want to start expanding near one of your alliance members, it's frustrating when you send an army to an area that's 4 hours away just to have the battle leave 1 or 2 of the enemies troops alive and not take the territory. Then you have to wait 4 hours for your heir's army to return, then another 4 for them to go back and kill the few remaining troops to take the territory. But if you have your army stationed at an allies city, they could operate out of that city, and return there in between attacks. Furthermore, your only means of defending your allies is by attacking the aggressor at their cities. If you're dealing with someone who has 40+ cities, that won't effect them much(unless you're able to attack 20+ cities simultaneously, which most players aren't).

Well, I appreciate that. I kinda figured being in an alliance should mean a little more than a 3 character moniker next to your name and "people you can trade with sooner". And as far as the siege units go, I just thought their unique functions/characteristics could be utilized a little more broadly.

Much appreciated kind sir. I'm not sure how "helpful" they find my suggestions, or if they even read them, but we shall see.
